Admissions
Begin Your Journey
MDVT Rehab provides confidential, clinician-guided admissions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When you contact our intake team at (619) 914-7561, a licensed admissions coordinator conducts an initial clinical screening to assess substance use history, medical status, psychiatric comorbidities, and psychosocial factors. This information determines the appropriate level of care -- medical detox, residential, PHP, or IOP -- and initiates the insurance verification process. Most patients receive a benefits determination within two hours of the initial call.
Our admissions protocol is designed for speed without sacrificing clinical accuracy. Once the level of care is confirmed and insurance authorization is secured, our team coordinates travel logistics and schedules a specific arrival time at our San Diego facility. The intake process itself includes a comprehensive medical examination, psychiatric evaluation, laboratory work, and the development of an individualized treatment plan. From first phone call to physical admission, the typical timeline is 24 to 48 hours. Every step is HIPAA-compliant and handled with strict confidentiality.

FAQ
How long does treatment last?
Duration is determined by clinical assessment and substance use severity. Medical detoxification requires 3 to 7 days. Residential treatment ranges from 30 to 90 days depending on progress metrics and psychiatric stability. PHP runs 2 to 4 weeks, and IOP extends 8 to 12 weeks. Your treatment team adjusts the timeline based on objective clinical indicators.
Does MDVT Rehab accept my insurance?
We accept most major commercial and government insurance plans, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Tricare, Medicare, and Medicaid. Our benefits verification team contacts your insurer directly to confirm coverage levels, deductibles, and prior authorization requirements. Call (619) 914-7561 for a complimentary benefits check -- results are typically available within two hours.
Is the detox process medically supervised?
Yes. Medical detoxification at MDVT Rehab operates under 24/7 physician and nursing supervision. Clinicians administer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) protocols -- including buprenorphine, naltrexone, or benzodiazepine tapers -- calibrated to standardized withdrawal severity scales (CIWA-Ar for alcohol, COWS for opioids). Vital signs and neurological status are monitored at minimum every two hours.
What is the visitation policy?
Visitation is scheduled on weekends during designated hours. Family members must be pre-approved by the treatment team and are required to check in at the front desk. Visitation supports the therapeutic process; clinical staff may adjust privileges based on the patient's treatment phase and clinical stability.
Can I use my phone during treatment?
Phone access is limited to designated hours as determined by your treatment team. Restricting phone use is a clinically supported practice that reduces external stressors and enhances engagement with the therapeutic milieu. Exceptions are made for documented legal or medical necessities with clinical approval.
What is dual diagnosis treatment?
Dual diagnosis refers to the concurrent presence of a substance use disorder and a psychiatric condition (e.g., major depressive disorder, PTSD, generalized anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder). MDVT Rehab provides integrated treatment -- both conditions are addressed simultaneously through combined psychopharmacology and evidence-based psychotherapy rather than treated in separate, sequential programs.
